Tombstone Inscriptions, Strasburg, and Vicinity, Shenandoah County Virginia. By Duane Lyle Borden. Last year Mr. Borden published inscriptions from cemeteries in the vicinity of Toms Brook. In this volume he has transcribed the inscriptions from five family, three church and two public cemeteries, including the very extensive Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg. The earliest burial recorded in this work is that of Elizabeth Boehm (died 10 May 1783) in the Boehm cemetery where there is also a stone commemorating Revolutionary War soldier John Bly (1756-1821). All of the cemeteries have nineteenth century stones and Mr. Borden has copied inscriptions showing deaths as late as 1980. Funeral home makers, military style markers and inscriptions on field stones are noted. There is a full index containing 5600 names.

Tombstone Inscriptions, Woodstock and Fort Valley Vicinities, Shenandoah County, Virginia. By Duane L. Borden. Mr. Borden has published two previous volumes of cemetery inscriptions from other sections of Shenandoah County. In the current work each cemetery is described as to location and often the condition of the site is stated and other pertinent information is given. Most of the inscriptions were copied by Mrs. Jeanette C. Ritenour. Several graveyards in Fredrick and Warren cos., Va., and Hardy Co., W. Va., near the county lines are also included. The index of 89 pages contains over 9000 names. The great majority of the stones concern persons born in the nineteenth century and quite a few births prior to 1800 are also shown. These important data yearly become less legible and the value of these records cannot be overemphasized.

Tombstone Inscriptions, Shenandoah and Page Counties, Virginia. By Duane L. Borden. The cemeteries covered in this volume are principally in the southern portion of Shenandoah County and the western portion of Page County. There are 96 Shenandoah cemeteries, 43 from Page Country and 12 located in Shenandoah, Rockingham, Clarke, Page and Warren counties, several of which are supplements to the listings in Mr. Borden's previous volumes of cemetery inscriptions from Shenandoah County. The location of each cemetery is described and its condition is noted. Additional information about the family is provided relating to some of the private graveyards. While many of the graves are of recent date, there are a considerable number of births prior to 1800 shown. A full index of names is provided. In the introductory section Mr. Borden provides biographies of each of his co-transcribers, Daniel W. Bly, Doris George, Jeanette Conner Ritenour and Linda Varney, with information about some their ancestors.

Tombstone Inscriptions, Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, Virginia, and Other Warren County Vicinities. By Duane L. Borden. In addition to the very large Prospect Hill Cemetery Mr. Borden and his associates have surveyed a number of other public, church and family cemeteries in and near Warren County. The location of each cemetery is stated precisely and its history given. The inscriptions on the Mosby Monument at Prospect Hill, the Confederate monument at the Warren County Courthouse, the Battle of Front Royal monument and the Korean-Vietnam Memorial have also been transcribed and their history given. The history of several funeral homes in Front Royal is provided. This is a valuable compilation to add to Mr. Borden's series of tombstone inscriptions which thus far have been concerned with Shenandoah County. We look forward to learning of more volumes. There is a full index covering 126 pages.
